Are you sitting comfortably? It’s time for a short story. 2015 was a fantastic year for Unorthodox Paradox, we put on two astonishing events, one of which was in a brand new and very wonderful location, The Bridges. However, as 2015 drew to a close it became clear that (at least temporarily) we needed to take a break from our home for 5 years, Fellfoot Wood. We don’t need to go into the reasons for this here, but rest assured it was not a decision that was taken lightly. Putting on two events in one year had taken its toll on us anyway, and luckily we had another fantastic venue to work with, hence we entered 2016 full of excitement for developing what we do in this new place.
Unfortunately, the best laid plans can (and often do) go askew, and early in January we discovered that it was not going to be possible to do any of the dates that we wanted to at The Bridges. This left us in what you might call a ‘shitty situation’ – 2016 was upon us, and nowhere to call home! But we are nothing if not persistent, and after a good deal of head-scratching a little light came on in the darkness. We moved swiftly to capture this light, and are now very happy to announce that we have a new venue for 2016 – The Hollybush nr. Hay-On-Wye.
To say we are excited about this place would be an understatement – it really is a stunning location. Set in woodland on the banks of the River Wye, in an area of outstanding natural beauty, this little jewel will be a perfect home for Unorthodox Paradox. There’s a lot to tell you about it, but this post is already too long, so feel free to have a look around the site so you can acquaint yourself with our new home 🙂
Oh yeah – the dates – almost forgot 😉 So to put the icing on the cake, we have been lucky enough to secure the second August Bank Holiday weekend, 26th – 28th August, which means 3 whole days of Unorthodox mayhem and one whole day at the end to recover before ‘normality’ sucks you back in.
All this faffing about does however mean that you will have to bear with us for a little while, as there are small details (!) like bands to organise, but rest assured the line-up will not disappoint. We hope to have an initial lineup announcement in the next couple of weeks, and we’re aiming to get tickets on sale at the start of February.
